A letter from the President
There was a time when immigrants crossed a vast ocean to come to America. Amongst them were many immigrants from Italy who gave to America many geniuses. They were people who shaped Western civilization's architecture, music, laws, art, etc. Most important, those Italians left to America a legacy, its own children. Many of their children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and all their families, have tried to keep alive the Italian customs and traditions that were so important to those who crossed that ocean. Many have long forgotten the immigrant's hardships and poverty, along with the discrimination imposed upon them when they came to America. Some have not given much thought to the Italian belief that the meaning to life is the "preservation of the family." Italian Americans everywhere are now reaching out to one another in an attempt to keep alive those Italian ideals.
Therefore, I want to take this opportunity to thank all of you for helping me organize the COLLIN COUNTY ITALIAN AMERICANS. We are a group of Italian Americans who are proud of our heritage. We have bonded together to preserve our heritage and to enlighten our communities as to the numerous contributions the Italian Americans made to the growth of the United States. The COLLIN COUNTY ITALIAN AMERICANS has set many goals, and together, we will continue to grow and accomplish all of those goals and we welcome all of those who join with us.
